La Terrazza di Puglia
A beautifully restored historic estate in the heart of Puglia, where timeless architecture, Mediterranean gardens, and authentic Italian hospitality create an unforgettable escape.
Nestled amongst centuries-old olive groves in the sun-drenched countryside of Puglia, this beautifully restored historic estate celebrates the elegance and simplicity of southern Italy. Blending original architectural features with refined contemporary comforts, the estate offers an atmosphere of understated luxury where long lunches, quiet afternoons by the pool, and warm evenings beneath the stars become part of everyday life. Perfectly positioned to explore Puglia's whitewashed villages, Adriatic coastline, and exceptional gastronomy, La Terrazza di Puglia invites guests to experience the region at its most authentic.
THE LIVING SPACES
Beautifully restored with great respect for its heritage, this stunning house combines traditional Puglian architecture with contemporary design and exceptional craftsmanship.
The main house centres around elegant reception rooms, a welcoming sitting room with an open fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfortable television lounge, creating inviting spaces for gathering throughout the day.
One of the property's most distinctive features is the entrance hall, where internationally renowned contemporary artist David Tremlett has created bespoke murals, adding a striking artistic dimension to the historic estate.
Large openings lead directly onto the surrounding gardens, while shaded terraces and outdoor dining spaces encourage effortless indoor-outdoor living throughout the seasons. Underfloor heating and air conditioning ensure year-round comfort.
THE GARDENS
Dating back to the late eighteenth century, the gardens are as historically significant as the estate itself. Conceived alongside the house, they were designed according to classical philosophical principles, creating a landscape that is both harmonious and deeply atmospheric.
Enclosed within ancient stone walls, the gardens are arranged around a large rectangular plan, where elegant pathways divide the grounds into four distinct sections — a symbolic representation of paradise. At the heart of the garden stands a magnificent champion magnolia tree, offering a peaceful canopy of shade and becoming the natural focal point of the estate.
Beautiful stone pergolas, secluded seating areas, and ornamental niches positioned at the four cardinal points invite guests to wander, pause, and enjoy the quiet beauty of southern Italy. Throughout the day, the gardens provide a series of tranquil spaces for long lunches, afternoon reading, or evening aperitivi beneath the Mediterranean sky.
THE BEDROOMS
The estate welcomes up to 16 guests across 8 beautifully appointed ensuite bedrooms, thoughtfully divided between the historic main house and the beautifully converted former stables.
The main house features two spacious master suites, each with a four-poster bed, elegant ensuite bathroom, and views across the gardens.
The former stables have been transformed into six generous ensuite guest bedrooms, each with its own private entrance from the gardens. Three bedrooms enjoy their own secluded patios, while all can be configured as twin or double rooms to suit the needs of each group.
The layout offers an exceptional balance between shared living and personal privacy, making Casino Pisanelli particularly well suited to multi-generational families, celebrations, retreats, and groups travelling together.
EXPERIENCES
Located in the heart of Salento, the estate offers the perfect base from which to discover one of Puglia's most captivating regions. From historic villages and dramatic coastlines to exceptional local cuisine and crystal-clear waters, every day invites a new adventure.
Explore the beautifully preserved villages of Specchia, Ruffano, and Tricase, each celebrated for their authentic character, baroque architecture, and vibrant local life. Wander through quiet piazzas, browse artisan boutiques, and enjoy long lunches in traditional trattorias serving the very best of Puglian cuisine.
The estate's central location also makes it easy to experience both sides of the Salento peninsula. Spend the day discovering the dramatic rocky coves and turquoise waters of the Adriatic coast, or relax on the long sandy beaches of the Ionian Sea, each offering a distinct expression of southern Italy's coastal beauty.
Whether you're exploring historic towns, enjoying the region's exceptional gastronomy, or simply embracing the slower pace of Mediterranean life, this house offers an elegant base from which to experience Puglia at its finest.
